What we like
- Among the most photorealistic AI companion images in the category, with consistent faces across generations
- Very cheap entry on the annual plan ($3.99/month, billed $47.88)
- Multimedia: images, image-to-video, voice notes, beta voice calls and interactive Live Action scenes
- Detailed character builder covering ethnicity, body, hair, personality, voice and hobbies; girls, guys and anime
- Payment options include card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer and crypto; discreet 'EverAI' billing descriptor
Watch out for
- Only 100 tokens a month on Premium, so heavy image, video or voice users typically pay $25–80 a month in total
- Weak long-term conversational memory: testers report storylines resetting after 48–72 hours
- Strict refund window: 24 hours and no more than 20 tokens used, card payments only
- Free tier is only 5 messages, so you can't really test it without paying
- No native iOS/Android app (PWA only)
The short version
Candy.ai is a visual product first and a conversational one second. The images are photorealistic and the faces stay the same between generations. Video conversion and voice exist and work. What does not hold up is memory: storylines reportedly reset after 48 to 72 hours, and some users say long-term recall frays after a week or two.
We rate Candy.ai 9.8 out of 10 overall. It earns that on pictures. It loses points on price transparency and privacy.
Three things you should know before you pay anything:
- Premium includes only 100 tokens a month. Images cost about 4 tokens each, video conversion about 12. Heavy media users report total monthly spend of $25 to $80.
- The free tier is 5 messages, one custom character and one image. You cannot judge conversation quality from it.
- Refunds need to be requested within 24 hours of payment and are refused if you have used more than 20 tokens.

What Candy.ai is
Candy.ai is a web-based 18+ companion platform run by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta at 56 Central Business Centre, Santa Venera. It launched in 2023 and now covers text chat, image generation, image-to-video, voice messages and beta voice calls.
You get a catalogue of more than 100 pre-made characters: girlfriends, boyfriends and anime styles. You can also build your own. There is no iOS or Android app. Candy runs in the browser and can be installed as a progressive web app through "Add to Home Screen".
Some marketing material claims 50 million users. Candy publishes no user count that we could verify, so treat that figure as advertising.
Character creation
The "Create My AI" builder is one of the deeper ones in this niche. You set ethnicity, age, body, hair, personality, voice and hobbies; one 2026 review counts 47 adjustable parameters in total. Creating a custom character costs about 10 tokens, and free accounts get one.
Premium Plus adds user personas, 20 memory slots and chat cloning, which lets you fork a conversation. Those memory slots matter more than they sound: the base product's memory is the weak point, and slots are the patch.
Image generation
This is why people pay. Output is photorealistic, faces stay consistent across a set, and Premium users get HD. A commonly repeated vendor-adjacent claim says image errors fell 70% by January 2026. Nobody outside the company has confirmed that number, so file it under marketing.
Cost per image has shifted. Testers in September 2026 put it at about 4 tokens; older reviews said 1 to 3. Candy does not publish an official per-image rate, which is itself a problem when you are budgeting.
At roughly 4 tokens an image, 100 monthly tokens buy about 25 pictures. That is fine if you generate a few a week. It is not fine if you use images as part of everyday roleplay.
Live Action and video
Candy's video feature is image-to-video, not text-to-video. You start from a still and convert it. Testers put a clip at about 12 tokens.
Live Action reportedly launched in February 2026 and adds Automatic Story and Scenario modes, with clips up to 120 seconds. Tokens burn roughly three times faster there than on images. Live Action is limited to selected characters, and Candy Shorts content unlocks with tokens. Free accounts get no video at all.
If short NSFW clips are the point of the subscription for you, this is one of the stronger implementations in the category. Just do the arithmetic first: eight short videos a month is roughly your entire token allowance.
Voice
Voice messages are included for subscribers and cost tokens. Voice calls are in beta at roughly 3 tokens per minute, which means a 20-minute call eats 60 tokens, more than half the monthly Premium allowance. Audio quality gets mixed reports. It works; it is not the reason to subscribe.
Chat and roleplay
Text chat is unlimited for subscribers, with SFW and NSFW modes and roleplay scenarios. Testers report reply times of about 1 to 1.5 seconds per message, which is fast enough to feel like a conversation.
Quality has improved from 2025 into 2026 but still trails Replika on emotional depth. The more common complaint is characterisation: characters default to agreement. They rarely push back, disagree or introduce friction, so scenes drift toward flattery. Some users want that. If you want a companion with opinions, look elsewhere.
Memory: the real weak spot
Several testers report storylines resetting after 48 to 72 hours. Others say long-term recall weakens after 7 to 10 days. Names, established scenes and earlier promises get dropped.
Two mechanics make this worse. Resetting or deleting a chat also clears that chat's memory. And the fixes are paywalled: Premium Plus's 20 memory slots are the only real mitigation Candy offers.
If continuity matters more to you than visuals, our Secrets AI review is the more relevant read; memory is that platform's pitch. Candy is not trying to win that comparison.
Pricing
Candy advertises the 12-month plan at up to 70% off the monthly price. In Europe, prices may display in euros.
| Plan | Price per month | Billed | Tokens per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | n/a | None (5 messages, 1 character, 1 image) |
| Premium, monthly | $13.99 | $13.99 every month | 100 |
| Premium, 3 months | $8.99 | $26.97 every 3 months | 100 |
| Premium, 12 months | $3.99 | $47.88 per year | 100 |
| Premium Plus | Not published | Shown at checkout | 330 |
Premium Plus also adds personas, 20 memory slots, chat clones, early access to new characters and a 10% bonus on token top-ups for quarterly and yearly subscribers. Candy does not list its price publicly, which makes comparison shopping harder than it should be.
You will see conflicting third-party figures, such as $12.99 a month or $5.99 a month billed annually at $69.99. Candy's own pages list the prices above. Where they differ, trust the checkout page in front of you.
Tokens: the second bill
| Item | Tokens |
|---|---|
| Image | About 4 (older reviews: 1 to 3) |
| Image-to-video clip | About 12 |
| Voice call | About 3 per minute |
| Custom character | 10 |
| Private content packs | 100 to 400 |
Top-up packs are reported from $9.99 for 100 tokens up to $299.99 for 3,750. Users commonly add $15 to $40 a month; active users report $25 to $60; media-heavy users report up to $80. Candy publishes no full official price list for tokens, so those figures come from users and testers, not from the company.
One more trap: if you cancel, unused tokens expire at the end of the billing period. They are not refunded and they do not roll over.
The free version
Five messages in total across all characters. One custom character. One image. No 18+ media.
That is not a trial. It is a demo. You cannot learn anything useful about reply quality or memory from five messages, so the practical decision is whether to pay for one month and treat it as the trial.
Privacy and safety
The company is Maltese and subject to GDPR. Passwords are stored encrypted and data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+). There is no end-to-end encryption claimed, so chats sit on Candy's servers.
The privacy notice says prompts and outputs may be aggregated, anonymized or de-identified and used to train AI and moderation models, including dataset preparation with human review. No opt-out is described. Message content may be shared with third-party LLM providers, hosting providers and moderation vendors.
Retention: account data is kept up to 3 years after your last activity (possibly shortened to 1 year) or until you ask for deletion. Log files go after 30 days. You delete your account in Settings under Danger Zone.
Age verification is a self-declared 18+ gate, plus third-party age estimation or ID checks in some locations. The content policy bans anything involving or resembling minors and says known CSAM is reported to NCMEC. An automated filter can flag messages.
Practical advice: do not put your real name, workplace, address or health details into a chat, and avoid reusing a password. Also avoid unofficial Candy AI APKs and mod files. The official product is browser-based and has no native app, so any "Candy app" you find outside the web version is not from the company.
Refunds and cancellation
The terms are strict. Per section 10.4 of the terms of service, subscription refunds must be requested within 24 hours of payment and are refused if more than 20 tokens have been used. Token packs are refundable within 24 hours only if unused. Only card payments are refundable. Crypto payments cannot be refunded at all. There are no refunds for user-side technical issues, moderation actions or removed content.
EU and UK users have a 14-day withdrawal right, refunded minus a prorated amount for services consumed.
Plans auto-renew. Cancel under My Profile, then Settings, then Unsubscribe, and you keep access until the period ends. Deleting your account before the renewal date also cancels, per the help centre.
The 20-token limit is the part that catches people. Twenty tokens is about five images. Generate a handful of pictures on day one and you have effectively waived the refund.
Payment methods and billing
Candy accepts Visa, Mastercard, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer through Volt and Pix, and crypto including BTC, ETH, USDC and LTC. Charges appear as "EverAI" on your statement, not Candy AI.
Legitimacy and complaints
Candy is a real company with a registered address, published terms and a working support operation (email, help centre, contact form and Discord). The Trustpilot profile was removed for guideline violations after sitting at about 3.8 out of 5, so that public complaint record is gone. The recurring complaints in user reports are token costs, memory and the refund window, not fraud.
One caveat about emotional support
Candy is built for fantasy and images. It is not a therapist, and its characters default to agreement, which makes it a poor place to work through something real. If you are lonely or struggling, a companion app can be a pleasant distraction but a bad substitute for people who can disagree with you. Use it as entertainment and keep the rest of your life in the room.
Who it suits
Buy Candy if visuals are the point: photorealistic stills, consistent faces, short NSFW clips, a deep character builder, and a low annual entry price. Skip it if you want a companion who remembers last week, or if you dislike metered billing.
If you want volume of images and video for the money, OurDream AI bundles 1,000 dreamcoins a month at $9.99 monthly on the yearly plan, which works out to roughly 200 images. Note that OurDream blurs images and videos if your subscription lapses.
| Platform | Best for | Price from | Monthly allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Candy.ai | Photorealistic images and video | $3.99/month (yearly) | 100 tokens |
| Secrets AI | Long-term memory and voice calls | $9.17/month (yearly) | 8,000 Moments |
| OurDream AI | Image and video volume | $9.99/month (yearly) | 1,000 dreamcoins |
For native iOS and Android apps rather than a browser tab, Nomi AI is the obvious alternative at $15.99 monthly or $8.33 monthly billed yearly.
Final verdict
Candy.ai is legitimate, polished and visual-first, and on image quality it is close to the top of the category. The $3.99 monthly annual rate is a genuinely cheap way in. But that rate buys 100 tokens, and the moment you start generating video or making voice calls, the real bill lands somewhere between $25 and $80 a month.
Memory is the other honest limitation. Storylines reset in days, not weeks, and the fix costs more. Refunds are tight enough that you should assume your first payment is final.
Start with one month at $13.99 rather than a year. Watch your token balance for the first week. Keep personal details out of chats. Buy it for the pictures, not for a companion who remembers your birthday.
Frequently asked questions
For visuals, yes: the images are among the most photorealistic in the category and the annual plan starts at $3.99 a month. As a conversation partner it is weaker, and heavy image, video or voice use pushes real spending to $25–80 a month in tokens.
Barely. A free account gets 5 messages in total, one custom character and one image, with no 18+ media. Unlimited chat, images and video all need a paid plan.
It is run by EverAI Limited in Malta under GDPR, data is encrypted in transit and charges show as 'EverAI'. There is no end-to-end encryption, and de-identified chats may be used to train models, so keep identifying details out of conversations.
No native iOS or Android app. It runs in mobile browsers and can be installed as a progressive web app through 'Add to Home Screen'. Any APK you find elsewhere is unofficial.
Only within 24 hours of payment, only by card, and only if you have used 20 tokens or fewer. Token packs are refundable within 24 hours only if unused, and crypto payments cannot be refunded.
