What we like
- Best value for media: $9.99/month (annual) includes unlimited chat plus 1,000 dreamcoins, about 200 images
- Strong image generation with realistic and anime styles; videos up to 60 seconds with optional audio
- Deep character builder and a very large community character library
- Subscriber chat costs 0 coins, so no per-message metering
- Transparent, detailed per-feature coin price list in the official help center
Watch out for
- Memory relies mainly on recent history, so long arcs can fade (per independent tests)
- All your generated images and videos are blurred when your subscription lapses
- Conflicting refund rules (14-day quality guarantee vs. a 25%-usage cap), and crypto payments are never refundable
- Homepage claims end-to-end encryption, but the privacy policy describes server-side encryption and allows training on your data
- Free users can't generate media or buy coins, and there's no PayPal
Our verdict on OurDream AI
OurDream AI is a browser-based, 18+ roleplay and companion platform run by Dream Studio USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation. It does two things well: it gives paying subscribers unlimited chat, and it generates images and video at a quality that holds up against the better-known names in this category. It does one thing badly: it keeps only a loose grip on long conversations.
We rate OurDream AI 9.7 out of 10. That is a strong score, and it comes mostly from the media side. Image generation scores 10, character customisation 10 and video 9.9. Value sits at 9.9. The weaker numbers are memory at 7.9, voice at 7.9 and privacy at 6.9.
This review rests on OurDream's own published material — homepage, terms of service, privacy policy, refund policy and help centre — plus user reports. Prices and policies are current as of September 2026. We did not buy a subscription, and OurDream did not pay for this review.
What OurDream AI actually is
OurDream is a chat platform with a character library bolted on. The homepage advertises more than 11 million characters; a third-party reviewer has quoted 63 million, a figure we cannot verify and would not repeat as fact. Either way the library is large, sortable, and full of public characters other users have built and published.
You can also build your own. The character creator is one of the deepest we have seen described in published documentation: appearance, personality, backstory, scenario, greeting. Creating a chatbot costs 10 dreamcoins. There is no option to upload your own photos for replication, which is a deliberate limit — the community guidelines ban real-person likenesses and deepfakes.
The platform supports text chat, voice messages, voice calls, group and multi-character roleplay, realistic and anime art styles, and male as well as female companions. The interface is English-only, though you can ask a character to switch languages inside a chat. There is no native iOS or Android app. You add ourdream.ai to your home screen from Safari or Chrome and use it as a web app.
Chat quality and the memory problem
Independent reviewers describe OurDream's chat as coherent and in-character, with the kind of consistency you want in a companion app. Realism scores 8.9 for us. Characters stay in voice, follow scenario prompts, and handle group scenes without collapsing into a single narrator.
Memory is where it slips. OurDream does not appear to maintain a durable long-term memory layer the way some competitors do. It leans on recent message history, so a story arc that runs across dozens of sessions will start to fray. Details from early on get dropped. Names, established facts and plot points fade. If you want a companion who remembers a conversation from three weeks ago, this is not the strongest pick.
Two other quirks worth knowing. First, a proprietary moderation filter — OurDream calls it Automod — scans conversations and can block messages. The help centre concedes it is sometimes a bit too sensitive, so expect the occasional false flag mid-scene. Second, the Genius and Lively Genius reply modes cost 1 dreamcoin each even on a paid plan. Standard subscriber chat is 0 coins; these are optional upgrades, but they are metered.
Images and video: the reason to subscribe
OurDream's image generation is the best thing about it. The platform runs multiple models, including ones it markets as Vivid and Dreamy, and output spans realistic and anime styles. Reviewers routinely compare it favourably to Candy AI, which is high praise in this market. Our images score is 10.
Video is the quieter strength. You can generate clips up to 60 seconds, which is long for this category, and add audio on top. The cost structure is where it gets interesting, and not always in a good way:
- 100 dreamcoins per 5 seconds of standard video. A full 60-second clip is 1,200 coins — more than a monthly allowance.
- 200 coins for an Ultra-quality video.
- 50 coins per 5 seconds to enhance a video.
- 20 coins per second to add audio.
- 5 coins for an in-chat image; 10 coins per two standard images.
- 10 to 20 coins to enhance or edit an image.
The practical upshot: 1,000 dreamcoins is roughly 200 standard images, or about 10 short video clips. If you mainly want stills, the allowance is generous. If you want video, it disappears fast. Download everything you generate while your subscription is active — more on that below.
Pricing and plans
One paid tier is officially documented. Everything else you read about a "Deluxe" plan at $29.99 or $59.99 comes from user reports and is unverified.
| Plan | Price | Billing | Dreamcoins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free tier | $0 | n/a | None; 1 coin per message |
| Premium monthly | $19.99/month | $19.99 monthly | 1,000 per month |
| Premium annual | $9.99/month | $119.88 yearly | 2,000 upfront, then 1,000 monthly |
The annual plan is the obvious buy if you are staying. At $9.99 a month with unlimited messages and 1,000 coins, it undercuts most of the field on media per dollar. The monthly plan costs twice as much for the same allowance, which makes it a reasonable one-month trial and a poor long-term choice.
Coins roll over and do not expire, and they land at 2pm EST on your renewal date. Only subscribers can buy more. Third-party reports put top-ups at $11.99 for 1,000 coins, $49.99 for 5,000 and $159.99 for 20,000 — treat those as unconfirmed. There are no official promo codes; the Discord runs giveaways.
The dreamcoin price list
To OurDream's credit, the help centre publishes a detailed per-feature price list. That is rarer than it should be, and it makes the real cost of using the app calculable before you pay.
| Action | Dreamcoins |
|---|---|
| Subscriber chat message | 0 |
| Free account chat message | 1 |
| Genius or Lively Genius reply | 1 |
| In-chat image | 5 |
| Standard images | 10 per two images |
| Enhance or edit image | 10 to 20 |
| Video | 100 per 5 seconds, up to 60 s |
| Ultra video | 200 |
| Voice call | 50 per minute |
| Create chatbot | 10 |
| Community packs | 250, 750 or 1,000 |
Voice is the expensive feature. A 20-minute call burns 1,000 coins — your entire monthly allowance. Premium-voice narration costs 5 coins per paragraph. Our voice score is 7.9, and the coin burn is part of why.
The free tier is close to useless
You can sign up and chat without paying. You get 1 dreamcoin per message, no image or video generation, and no ability to buy coins. That last restriction is the killer: without a subscription you cannot top up, so the free tier is a fixed allowance of messages and nothing else. It works as a look around the character library. It does not work as a way to use the app.
Safety and privacy: read the policy, not the homepage
The homepage FAQ claims chats are end-to-end encrypted and that not even OurDream can read them. The privacy policy does not support that. It describes AES encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit, hosted on a platform with SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 reports. That is server-side encryption. The company holds the keys, and the policy explicitly says information may be used to train its AI and machine learning models.
It also says a proprietary LLM moderation filter screens conversations. A system that scans your messages is not end-to-end encrypted by any definition. We are not accusing OurDream of lying about its infrastructure, but the two documents contradict each other, and the policy is the one that governs.
Other points from the policy:
- Data is retained "as long as necessary" with no fixed periods.
- OurDream says it does not sell personal information, per its Nevada and CCPA sections.
- Account deletion runs from Profile > danger zone, processes in 24 to 48 hours, and permanently removes generations, unpublished characters, chat history and unused coins.
- Popular public characters may stay active even after the creator deletes their account.
- We found no two-factor authentication in the published policies.
On content, OurDream is explicit: NSFW chat, images and video of fictional adult characters are allowed. Underage content, including "loli" characters and scenes implying infants, is banned, as are real-person likenesses and deepfakes. Age verification is an 18+ attestation at signup, with government ID or facial age estimation where law, payment partners or risk assessment require it.
Practical advice: do not put your real name, employer or location into a chat, and do not upload photographs of real people. Assume anything you type may be reviewed by a moderation system and may inform model training.
Refunds, cancellation and the blurred-media trap
The refund policy was last modified in March 2026 and contains rules that do not fit together neatly. You can report a defect or a service significantly different from its description within 14 days to [email protected]. Outcomes are case-by-case, decided within about seven business days, and unused portions of a billing period are generally non-refundable.
The help centre adds a harder line: refunds are refused if more than 25% of a product was used, and monthly subscriptions are not refunded once coins are used up. Annual plans may get a full or partial refund. EEA, UK and Swiss users have a 14-day withdrawal right, which can be lost once the digital service is fully provided.
Crypto payments are final, full stop. Chargebacks filed without contacting support first can get your account suspended.
Then there is the part almost nobody mentions at signup. When your subscription lapses, every image and video you generated is blurred until you resubscribe. Not deleted — blurred. Purchased coins do not expire, but you cannot use free-tier features to view media. After a refund, the same applies and unused coins are removed. Download your generations before you cancel.
Cancellation itself is simple: ourdream.ai/profile, any time, access until the billing period ends.
Payment methods
OurDream takes credit and debit cards and crypto. If a card is declined, the help centre suggests G2A prepaid codes as a fallback. There is no PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. For anyone who prefers not to hand card details to an adult platform, crypto is the option — but it comes with zero refund protection.
How OurDream compares
| Platform | Best for | Price from | Monthly credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| OurDream AI | Lots of image and video for money | $9.99/month annual | 1,000 dreamcoins |
| Candy.ai | Photorealistic images, cheap yearly plan | $3.99/month annual | 100 tokens |
| Secrets AI | Long-term memory and voice calls | $9.17/month annual | 8,000 Moments |
Candy.ai is cheaper on paper and strong on photorealism, but 100 tokens a month is a thin allowance, and its refund window is 24 hours with 20 tokens or fewer used. Secrets AI gives you far more credits and better memory, plus group chat and Lorebooks — though those two features sit behind a $39.99 Ultimate tier, and video burns 600 Moments per clip.
OurDream's position is clear: it is the media-value pick. If you want a companion who remembers your history, Secrets AI is the better fit. If you want a cheap yearly plan and photoreal stills, Candy.ai wins on price.

Pros and cons

- $9.99/month annual with 1,000 dreamcoins — roughly 200 images.
- Image generation that holds up against the best in the category, in realistic and anime styles.
- Video up to 60 seconds with optional audio.
- A deep character builder and a very large public library.
- A published, detailed coin price list. You can do the maths before you pay.
- Voice calls, narration and group roleplay all supported.
What doesn't
- Memory leans on recent history; long arcs fade.
- All generated media is blurred when your subscription lapses.
- Refund rules conflict: a 14-day quality guarantee against a 25%-usage cap.
- Crypto payments are never refundable.
- The homepage's end-to-end encryption claim is contradicted by the privacy policy.
- Free users cannot generate media or buy coins.
- No PayPal, no native app, English-only interface, no two-factor authentication found.
Is OurDream AI legitimate?
Yes. It is operated by a named Delaware corporation with a published Dover address, a real terms of service, a privacy policy and a refund policy that has been revised on a dated schedule. The help centre documents coin costs in detail, which is not the behaviour of a scam operation. It is a young, fast-growing platform, and some of its marketing is looser than its legal documents — the encryption claim being the clearest example. That is a reason to read carefully, not a reason to assume fraud.
Who should use it
Subscribe if you want a lot of images and video for a low monthly price, you enjoy building characters in detail, and you are comfortable with an English-only web app. Start with one month at $19.99, test the memory against your own use case, and only commit to the annual plan once you know the coin burn suits you.
Look elsewhere if long-term memory matters more than media. A companion who forgets last month's story is a frustrating companion, and Secrets AI handles that better. Look elsewhere too if you want a native app, PayPal, or a platform whose marketing matches its privacy policy line for line.
Either way: download everything you generate, keep your identity out of the chat, and assume your messages are moderated and may train a model.
Frequently asked questions
You can sign up and chat for free, but free users pay 1 dreamcoin per message, cannot generate images or videos, and cannot buy coins. Unlimited chat and media generation require a Premium subscription.
Premium is $19.99 billed monthly, or $9.99/month billed once a year at $119.88. Both include unlimited messages and 1,000 dreamcoins a month; the annual plan adds a 1,000-coin bonus upfront.
Yes. It is an 18+ platform that allows NSFW roleplay, images and video of fictional adult characters. Underage content, real-person deepfakes and other illegal material are banned and filtered.
Your generated images and videos are blurred until you subscribe again, so download anything you want to keep before cancelling. Purchased coins do not expire, but you cannot use free-tier features to view media.
Data is encrypted at rest and in transit, and you can delete your account from your profile. But the homepage claims end-to-end encryption while the privacy policy describes server-side encryption, says data may train AI models, and notes chats pass through a moderation filter — so do not treat conversations as fully private.
