Secrets AI vs Nastia AI: Which Companion App Deserves Your Money?
Secrets AI sells continuity, live calls and realistic media at a premium. Nastia AI sells cheap uncensored flirting and big group scenes. The...
Joi AI sells a huge character cast and in-chat video; Candy AI sells realistic images, voice messages and clearer pricing. Here is how they compare on the things that cost you money.
Joi AI and Candy AI look similar from the outside: subscription, chat with fictional adults, generated pictures. The differences show up in the bill and in how long a conversation holds together. Candy AI is the easier recommendation for most adults. Joi AI makes sense if you want a big cast and video inside the chat and you are willing to manage a second currency.
We rate Candy.ai 9.8 out of 10. Its images score 10 and its memory 7.2. Joi AI has no score from us on this page. Everything below comes from published pricing pages, terms of service, company filings and user reports, not from paid accounts.
Candy AI wins on price, image quality, voice and refund clarity. Joi AI wins on the size of the character library and on having a video tool inside the chat. Memory is a wash: both have documented problems.

| Monthly price | $17.77/mo (reported) | $13.99/mo | Candy |
| Annual price | About $5.08/mo ($60.95/yr, reported) | $3.99/mo ($47.88/yr) | Candy |
| Character library | Larger, many looks and personalities | Smaller, strong consistency | Joi |

| Voice | Weak or disputed | Messages, beta calls | Candy |
| Memory | Forgets long-chat details (reported) | Resets after 48-72 hours (reported) | Tie |
| Refunds | 14 days, narrow cases | 24 hours, max 20 tokens spent | Joi |
Joi AI is operated by Novi Limited, a company registered in Nicosia, Cyprus. Novi also sells EVA AI, so the same billing and moderation infrastructure sits behind more than one brand. Ofcom put Joi's global monthly user figure at about 6.5 million at the end of 2025. The UK regulator opened a probe into Joi's age checks in January 2026 and closed it on July 31, 2026 without findings.
Candy AI is run by EverAI Limited, a Maltese company, which puts it under EU rules including GDPR. Both are web products. Neither ships a native app for the App Store or Google Play; Candy offers a web app you can install to a home screen.
| Feature | Joi AI | Candy AI |

| Video generation | Video tool in chat | Image-to-video, Live Action |
| Voice messages | Not confirmed | Yes |
| Character builder | Looks and personality sliders | Detailed Create My AI builder |
| Unlimited chat | No, some messages cost Neurons | Yes, on Premium |
| Group chat | Not documented | Not documented |
| Native app | No (web) | No (web, PWA) |
That "unlimited chat" row matters more than it looks. Candy's Premium plan lets you keep typing without watching a meter. Joi's terms put a price on some messages: 4 Neurons per romantic message. A long evening can quietly turn into a second purchase on top of the subscription.
Both platforms gate adult content behind an 18+ check at signup. Candy allows explicit chat, images and video involving fictional adults on paid plans. Its rules ban anything resembling a minor, bar content using a real person's likeness, and state that suspected abuse material is reported to NCMEC. Free Candy users cannot reach 18+ media at all.
Joi's terms say the platform is strictly for adults, and reviewers describe its filtering as light. Some users report blocks that break roleplay scenes mid-story. Neither platform documents filter levels you can adjust, so you cannot tune strictness the way you might on some competitors.
One naming trap: "AI JOI" is a guided adult roleplay format used across several apps. It has nothing to do with Joi AI the brand. If a page promises JOI features, check which product it is actually selling.
Joi's terms claim the chatbot continuously learns from your interactions. Users on Trustpilot describe the opposite in practice, with characters forgetting plot threads from earlier in the same long conversation. The learning is not the same as recall, and the gap shows up in extended scenes.
Candy's problem is time, not threads. User reports say characters reset after roughly 48 to 72 hours, so a story picked up next week starts colder than you left it. Candy's Premium Plus tier bundles user personas and 20 memory slots, which is the closest either platform gets to a memory feature you can inspect.
If continuity matters most, neither is a strong buy. Our Secrets AI review covers a platform whose pitch leans harder on memory.
Candy's generated images are among the most realistic we have seen described in user reports, and its marketing claims photorealistic consistency across 30+ generations. The character usually looks like the same person shot to shot. Each image costs about 4 tokens. Joi generates images faster than it should and with more variance: the look drifts, and reviewers report photo prices rising on some characters. Joi images draw on your Premium plan plus Neurons, so the cost per picture is harder to predict.
Joi has a video tool inside the chat. Its terms put one video view at up to 1,900 Neurons, and live video calls reportedly run near 2,000 Neurons for five minutes. At pack rates, 1,000 Neurons costs between $12.70 and $25.40 depending on size, so a single call can cost more than a month of Candy. Candy's image-to-video costs about 12 tokens, with clips reported up to 120 seconds, and Live Action adds motion to stills.
Candy sends voice messages and runs voice calls in beta at roughly 3 tokens per minute. Joi's voice features are weak or disputed depending on which user you ask, and voice is one of the most common complaints in Joi discussions. If hearing your companion matters, this is close to a one-sided comparison.
Joi's catalogue is the reason many people sign up. Reviewers repeat a vendor claim of 300+ preset characters, spread across looks and personalities. Candy's library is smaller but more consistent, which matters if you care that the face in the chat matches the face in the picture.
Candy's Create My AI builder sets ethnicity, body type, hair, voice, hobbies and personality, and supports female, male or anime companions. A custom character from scratch costs about 10 tokens. On Joi, your first custom character comes with Premium, and each extra one reportedly costs 1,000 Neurons, which at pack rates is $12.70 to $25.40 per character.
Neither platform documents group chat, so multi-character scenes are not a reason to pick either one.
| Plan | Joi AI (reported) | Candy AI |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $17.77/mo | $13.99/mo |
| 3 months | $26.66 (about $8.89/mo) | $26.97 ($8.99/mo) |
| 12 months | $60.95 (about $5.08/mo) | $47.88 ($3.99/mo) |
| Media currency | Neurons, from 500 for $12.69 | 100 tokens/mo, packs from $9.99 per 100 |
Joi's numbers are reported figures. We could not find a public pricing page, and Joi's terms say prices vary by region, which usually means the checkout total differs from what a review quoted. One comparison site claims Joi at $2.38/mo on annual billing. Treat that as unconfirmed until you see it at checkout yourself.
The sticker price is only half the bill. Reviewers put typical Joi extra Neuron spending at $15 to $30 a month. Candy users who generate a lot of media report all-in bills of $25 to $80 a month, because 100 tokens disappear quickly once you are making video. Candy's 100-token monthly allowance is generous for chat and thin for pictures.
Candy's free tier gives you five messages total, one image and one custom character. That is a demo, not a trial. Joi's free tier reportedly includes 10 Neurons plus Discord bonuses and daily rewards. Neither free tier lets you judge memory or voice quality, so plan on paying for one month before committing to a year.
Candy falls under GDPR. It encrypts data in transit but makes no end-to-end claim, and it may use de-identified chat content to train models. Records can stay for up to three years after inactivity. You delete your account through the Danger Zone in Settings, and bank statements show EverAI, not Candy.
Joi's policy says Novi uses chats to develop its AI, and we found no opt-out. No end-to-end encryption is mentioned and there is no fixed retention period. Novi says it does not sell user information. Joi's refund policy warns that chats may be disclosed if you file a chargeback, which is worth knowing before you dispute a charge. Charges reportedly appear as joi.com.
Neither platform publishes an independent security audit that we could find. If that is a dealbreaker, read the Candy.ai review and OurDream AI review for how other apps handle the same questions.
Joi allows refunds within 14 days, but only in narrow cases: fraud, a one-time mistaken purchase, or termination by Joi. Candy's window is 24 hours, card payments only, and you must have spent no more than 20 tokens. Candy's EU and UK customers get a prorated 14-day right that sits above that policy. Read both before you buy an annual plan.
Start with Candy AI if you want realistic pictures, voice messages and a price you can predict. The monthly rate is lower, chat is unlimited on Premium, and the token costs per image and per video minute are published and small. Candy is also the better first purchase for anyone new to paid AI companions, because the refund window and billing entity are at least clear.
Choose Joi AI if the character cast is the point, or if you want video without leaving the chat and you are prepared to budget Neurons on top of the subscription. Budget the extra $15 to $30 a month that reviewers report, and check the regional price at checkout rather than trusting a quoted figure.
If neither fits, Character AI has millions of user characters but no NSFW content. SpicyChat advertises 300,000+ community characters at $5/month, though our data puts it at $5.95 since September 8, 2026. GirlfriendGPT runs about $10/month according to one roundup, while our data shows $15 monthly or $12 yearly. Secret Desires AI is credited with adapting to user patterns and Cherrypop AI with quick session setup. Compare those before you sign a year with either of today's two.
On annual billing Candy is $3.99/mo against a reported $5.08/mo for Joi. The gap widens once you add media: Joi reviewers report $15-$30 a month in extra Neurons, while Candy's tokens cost about 4 per image and 12 per video.
Candy AI, by most user reports and our own ratings, which put its images at 10. Joi generates faster but the look drifts between pictures, and photo prices reportedly rise on some characters.
Joi suits variety and long story setups because of its larger cast, but users report characters forgetting earlier plot threads. Candy keeps visuals consistent and resets after roughly 48 to 72 hours, so it is better for short, visual scenes than long campaigns.
No. Both are web products. Candy offers a web app you can install to a home screen, but there is no App Store or Google Play listing for either platform.
Joi gives 14 days but only for fraud, a one-time mistaken purchase or termination by Joi. Candy gives 24 hours, card payments only, and only if you have spent 20 tokens or fewer, with a prorated 14-day EU/UK right on top.
